January 21 (Renewables Now) – A consortium of Thai company B.Grimm Power PCL (SET:BGRIM) and China Energy Engineering Group Shanxi Electric Power Engineering has won a tender to build what will be the largest hybrid hydro-floating solar park globally.

The tender was held by state-run Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), in line with the country’s goal to improve the security of its power supply.

The BGRIM Power–Energy China tie-up and EGAT on Monday signed an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the project, which envisages the installation of a 45-MW photovoltaic (PV) park on the water surface of the Sirindhorn hydropower dam in Thailand’s Sirindhorn District, Ubon Ratchathani Province.

B.Grimm will be responsible for the onshore project development, the company said in a press statement. The solar plant’s construction is expected to take 12 months, with commissioning seen in December 2020.
